“For Peanut” by Matthew Palmer

Daryl has known nothing but adversity. Homelessness, violence, and loss have plagued his life in East Baltimore. Nonetheless, thanks to a kind mentor and a recreational ice hockey team, he's persevered.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“About a year ago, Sam Ott and I went to Baltimore to meet some coaches and players of the Baltimore Banners hockey team. We planned (and still plan) to make a feature film about the East Baltimore team founded by Noel Acton and wanted to learn more about the team firsthand. While there, we had the chance to meet and spend time with Daryl Fletcher and to say I was inspired by him is an understatement. His quiet maturity and wisdom floored me. For the few days we were in town, he shared this wisdom with me and Sam and let us capture it on camera. The short film For Peanut is the result of our time filming him for a few days with no plan or crew. We hope Daryl’s story inspires you like it did us.
