“The Texan Spirit” By Olexiy Kryvych

A quick look into high-paced life of a Texas pedicab driver and leather worker.

Tony Nunez balances his life between pedicabbing, leather-working, being a husband, and a father to 3 children. The film takes a quick glimpse into his life in the warm atmosphere of Austin, TX.

In the beginning of March of 2023, Tony passed away from an undiagnosed medical condition, leaving his wife Jenna and his 3 children behind. The film is a celebration of Tony's life, passion and kindness.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“Last summer my DP, Spencer Greene, and I got to spend a few days with Tony and his family. Over 4 days we filmed how he balanced pedicabbing, leather working, being a husband and a father to 3 kids. I’ve never met anyone so kind, so patient, so driven, and so positive in my life. He seemed like he had so much energy for everything. Spencer and I didn’t know how he did it all.

On February 28th of this year, he passed away unexpectedly from an undiagnosed medical condition, leaving behind the love of his life, Jenna, and his 3 kids. We were devastated when we heard the news.

A big part of why I and many other people love Austin is because of people like Tony, who make up the very fabric of it, who create a welcoming community, and who lead by example. This film serves as a celebration of Tony's life and a reminder that there's always something more to life, you just got to find it.”
