“Wave Through” by Brandon Li

“Wave Through” is a poetic documentary portrait of Los Angeles dancer Jon Gifted, whose signature waving style channels his connection to nature into fluid, expressive movement. The film explores how each gesture becomes a dialogue between body and landscape, turning motion into a meditation on energy, stillness, and human expression.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“Jon Gifted is a good friend of mine and an incredible dancer I met in Los Angeles. I’ve always been drawn to the way he moves — his waving style feels alive, as if it’s channeling the energy of everything around him. Blending documentary intimacy with poetic movement, Wave Through explores how dance becomes a conversation between the body, the world around us, and the unseen forces that shape us.”
