“Teletransportar” By Rafa Castro

A glimpse into the life of an unemployed teacher earning a living by making deliveries during the pandemic.

When Rafa Castro spoke about the release of his new album, Teletransportar, still in 2019, and invited us to be part of a launch video, our group of friends, who signs the script, started to come up with a narrative that would translate the feelings of the album in a visual way.

A few weeks before shooting, in 2020, COVID arrives, the closure and the need for social distance. We resumed the project in early 2021, now with a new vision. The world has changed so much that the songs and the story have a new relationship, a new meaning. Brazil, ruled by an irresponsible president who called the world pandemic a "little flu", was becoming a disaster both in terms of deaths and unemployment. That's how we arrived at the concept that the film has today.

From the beginning, cinematographer Vini Bock and I thought of a more raw aesthetic for the look of the film, something that would refer to Eduardo Coutinho in a way, entering people's lives, and how Rafa's music would be a part from this universe finding its way to the character's home. That's why we chose right at the beginning to try to make the film in 16mm. Even for a certain mystery of how our analog vision would be, since we always work with digital filming advertisements.
