“TRIAGE” by Jason Abrams

An EMT must face an impossible decision between protecting her sister and saving her abuser.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“The second film on the theme of morality. From a story perspective, I wanted to further explore morality by establishing a person's moral code visually in a way that is easily understood (IE - A paramedic wants to save lives) and then directly challenge it with what our character cares about most (Her sister). As a filmmaker, I wanted to explore tension through the addition and subtraction of elements. Light, score, sound design etc. It was a really interesting way to look at subjectivity as well. In the preparation, I asked myself, is this film subjective or not? If so, is it the character's subjectivity of her experience or my own as the filmmaker? Is how you tell a story inherently making it subjective just by the nature of your telling it. This gave birth to the bigger question: Is morality subjective? I don't know if I have the answer yet but it was interesting to dive deeper into it while telling the story of familial love and how far we are willing to go to protect the ones we care for most.”
