“Time of Troubles” by Ivan Chekhov

Medieval Russ, year 1612. The country is going through a severe crisis - many years of hunger, devastation, Moscow is captured by Polish troops. Main character Ivan is a combat servant, tryes to accept the death of his beloved sister, but he is pulled into newly formed militia, that must liberate Moscow.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“Time of troubles is an insanely important and difficult movie in development for me and the entire film crew. It was a huge challenge for us to try to make a genre historical movie in a small village with a tight budget.

The genre of a historical film that explores a period very far from today is a rarity. But that was the real challenge. Will we be able to make a real interesting movie in our conditions?

The film tells about important historical events that took place in 1612 in Ancient Russia. But the story focuses only on one character and his personal drama. It was the only way we could tell this story without going beyond our budget. In this case, the restrictions played into our hands.”
