“Narcissus” by Wiley Kaupas

Beyond the Short Official Premiere

After looking for answers to a failed long term relationship, I stumbled onto the Greek myth of Narcissus. The myth follows a nymph named Echo as she desperately falls in love with a hunter named Narcissus. The story ultimately culminates in Echo cursing Narcissus to only be able to fall in love with himself which results in the hunter's drowning after becoming entranced with his reflection in a stream.

The myth became a seed for my own attempts to try to understand the sometimes fickle nature of love. As a result of those attempts, this film was created to capture and absorb some of the longing, anger, and regret that comes from being in love with someone who can't love you back.
