“N25” by Valentina Khodnevich

Through the lens we capture raw emotions of each movement, making the camera an active participant. The performance only truly exists when it has an audience. The artwork highlights peculiarities of the dance industry, where body becomes a tool for performing art. Every artist must confront the challenge of using it without abusing it.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“N25” has been created as a result of a collaboration between young artists with backgrounds in choreography, plastic theatre, and film. Everything seen on the screen wasn’t scripted and didn’t have a budget. The concept was developed during conversations between Valentina Khodnevich, a video artist, and her close friends who are forging careers as contemporary dancers. They grapple with finding a balance between commercial work and artistic expression in the modern industry.”
