“Echo” by Matthew Brennan

Beyond the Short Official Premiere

A woman replays a recording to try and communicate with a deceased person. Once she makes a breakthrough, she tries to reconcile with her past.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“For this film, Jacob and I were really interested in shooting a short on one roll of 16mm film. I tried to design a short that could only really be 3 minutes and to play with a story that’s more atmospheric in nature. Being that we only had one roll, we basically had one take per shot to get everything. It’s sort of cliche to say because everyone says it but shooting on film really creates a focused environment. With that said, I think this was still one of my favorite sets to be a part of. I had already worked with everyone on this film on prior projects so there was complete trust.”
