“Glimpse of Childhood” by Nizami Murtuzayev

Beyond the Short Official Premiere

Mila, left alone by her older sister, discovers her mother asleep with bruises and scars. Caught by her father, Mila learns that her mother's self-harm stems from a painful truth—he used to cheat on her. In an attempt to divert Mila, the father recalls it's her birthday, leading to a family cake-making session.

However, as the family gathers, tension arises, and Mila suggests a game to ease the awkwardness. Despite a seemingly smooth start, the atmosphere shatters when the mother is triggered by the father's cheating in the game, leaving Mila once again isolated amid the family's internal struggles.

FROM THE DIRECTOR

“When I was little, it felt like my parents had a secret life. There was so much they seemed to hide from me. And the film is about that. It is called “Glimpse of Childhood”. It is a family drama that often takes dramatized topics like break up, cheating, and self-harm and puts it in perspective of a young girl who witnesses those things happen to her family as they try to hide it from her.”
