“Even The Ghosts Have Gone” by Tahlia Magistrale

At the height of bushfire season in Australia, the town of Mooborten Creek is being evacuated as a bushfire of extreme magnitude blazes towards it. Living in solitude on a desolate, rural property on the outskirts of town, Glen refuses to leave.

With no loved ones to care for, and his property far from fire safe, his motives appear all but suicidal. He knows little beyond the wire boundary of his forty acre property, and is condemned to living out what’s left of his life there. In the days before the fire is set to engulf the town, Glen is confronted with the realities of the situation. After a fateful plea for his life from someone close but forgotten, he must act before it’s too late.
